As a lifelong native of the woods, fields, and waters of Minnesota, I enjoy blending material types as diverse as glass, wood, stone, fabric, and metal. In my choice of wood, I naturally gravitate toward the species found regionally, ranging from the White Oak whose leaf I use in my logo to the much-reviled invasive Buckthorn, whose vibrant orange wood I harvest and mill myself. My creations frequently draw their inspiration from historic architectural elements, found objects, and the character-rich flaws in materials that others might reject. My goal is to create functionally beautiful items to enrich and enliven the personal environment.
